Two Members of Labouré College's NDT Division Earn National Distinction with Prestigious Awards!

By Jackie Polito

Jean Farley, recently-retired Chair of the Neurodiagnostic Technology Division, was awarded the honorary designation of ASET Fellow with an induction at the August, 2014 Annual Business Meeting and Awards Luncheon in Asheville, NC. Jean was recognized with this highly prestigious award for her dedication and many contributions to the neurodiagnostic profession and to the Society. ASET - The Neurodiagnostic Society provides leadership, advocacy and resources that promote professional excellence and quality patient care in neurodiagnostics and is the premier organization for our profession.

Jean has been in the NDT field for over 30 years and built an innovative NDT program at Laboure Collegé from the ground up. She has worked tirelessly to provide quality educational experiences for students locally, as well as across the nation. In addition, she pioneered the on-line certificate program, bringing quality NDT training around the country, especially to many regions with shortages of technologists. She has been published in professional journals, been the recipient of the Outstanding Educator's Award, and served as an examiner for ABRET (the American Board of Registration of END Technologists), which are only a few of her many accomplishments.

The College is very fortunate that Jean will continue to offer her skills and expertise in the capacities of Associate Professor and of Assistant Administrator for the e-Learning system.

Congratulations, Jean, very impressive and so well-deserved!

Christine Scott (Class of 2004) was also honored at this same national ASET Conference with the Maureen Berkeley Award. This award is given annually for the most outstanding educational article written by a neurodiagnostic technologist and published in The Neurodiagnostic Journal. Christine's fascinating article, " The Relationship between Sleep-Activated IEDs and Intelligence in Children", was published in the December 2013 issue.

Christine, shortly after graduating from Labouré College with an AS in NDT, attained the position of Chief Technologist at Massachusetts's General Hospital and is also an adjunct professor at Labouré College, where she is able to contribute a great deal of current clinical knowledge and experience to her students in NDT. She also serves on regional and national NDT societies.

Congratulations, Christine!

Truly, these awards recognize not only the hard work of these dedicated professionals, but also reflect the high caliber of education that Labouré College provides to students to ensure excellence in patient care.
