Milton, MA – Labouré College of Healthcare is honored to receive an impactful grant from the Herb Chambers Foundation to support emergency funding for nursing students.
Emergency support funding offers temporary relief to students from underserved communities throughout Eastern Massachusetts, helping eliminate barriers to nursing careers and forging pathways to transformative economic advancement. The initiative aligns with Massachusetts healthcare workforce priorities and augments a pipeline of practice-ready nurses who embody the cultures of Boston Metro's existing and growing populations.
At Labouré, our students are adults who are not only studying to become nurses and healthcare professionals - they're also juggling work and family commitments while in school. 90% of our students are women, and approximately 63% are at or approaching poverty. Most are raising young families with an average household income of ~$40,000, and 31% are single parents. Upon graduation, these students are eligible for careers with starting salaries of $100,000 and up. A degree from Labouré means a rewarding career, a livable wage, and economic independence.
