Labouré Alumni Spotlight: Kathleen Quinn, '16, Neurodiagostic Technology

Kathleen Quinn, graduate of the Neurodiagnostic Technology certificate program at Labouré College, received the 2016 Consolidated Neuro Supply Professional Development Scholarship which allowed her to attend the annual ASET conference in Pittsburgh, PA last August.

After years in sales and marketing, Quinn was ready for a change in her professional life. The exciting and evolving field of neurodiagnostic technology provided just the right fit. “I chose Labouré after I attended one of the information seminars.  I was impressed with the overall curriculum, and the fact that the NDT program was accredited.  I also liked the fact that the program was online which allowed me the flexibility to fit this into my life.” Quinn secured a clinical spot at Brigham and Women’s Hospital in Boston and began her program. “The clinical portion is so critical to the success of the program.  The coursework builds on the fundamentals, but the day-to-day experience pulls it all together.  You are hands-on in the lab and the hospital floor.”

Since beginning in the NDT program, Quinn is further developing her skills as a neurodiagnostic technologist by working as a per diem EEG tech. “I feel like no day is typical, as you have the experience of outpatients, people who are being tested for epilepsy or neurological issues. In the afternoon, we typically the focus on the admitted patients, whether they are in the ICU or emergency department.  There is so much to keep you busy and learning in this field.”
