It is so challenging to work full-time and pursue a degree, but flexibility of programs at Labouré makes reaching goals possible. Eric Joubert, graduate of both the associate degree in Nursing and BSN programs at Labouré College, stands as an example of what hard work can achieve.

“[Nursing] is a calling- don’t do it for the money!”

When you meet Eric, his sense of humor and passion for nursing shine through immediately. Eric Joubert came to Labouré through the affiliation of his employer, Good Samaritan – part of the Steward Healthcare system. Many of our current students and recent graduates consider Labouré for this reason, but Eric is not a typical graduate. Like many of our students, Eric is a career changer, coming to Labouré after some time in the business world. When Eric decided to go back to school and earn his RN, he fully immersed himself in the healthcare industry, working at both Good Samaritan and Brockton Hospital for many years as he studied.

After completing his associate’s degree in Nursing, Eric chose to pursue his BSN at Labouré and greatly enjoyed working with the College’s professors as an adult learner. While he found all the instructors to be knowledgeable and inspiring, Eric fondly remembers Christine Salvucci, Ph.D. because, “she knew when to give me a shove,” and encourage him to try harder.

Eric’s experience at Labouré not only gave him the greatest accomplishment of his career thus far – obtaining a BSN, but he also realized that, “You can do anything, if you put the effort into it and you have the support.” When Eric is not at working as a Cardiac Catheter Lab Nurse at Good Samaritan Hospital in Brockton, he is never far from his profession serving as the Chair of the Whitman Board of Health for the last six years. In his spare time, Eric enjoys bees, camping, life and FUN!
