The 2016 Winners of the Massachusetts Care Awards

Comedian Lenny Clarke and KISS 108 morning radio hosts Billy Costa and Lisa Donovan will host the Massachusetts Care Awards event to celebrate nurses and healthcare workers in Massachusetts on Thursday, June 9, 2016 at Labouré College. Dr. James Dineen, one of the founders of the Bullfinch Medical Group at Massachusetts General Hospital, and his wife, Labouré College alum, Mary Dineen, RN will co-chair the event. Billy Costa is looking forward to this event and celebrating our local healthcare professionals, “Labouré College is known for having exceptional healthcare programs. Passionate, dedicated healthcare workers should be recognized for their heroic efforts and their contributions to patients and their families.”

The Massachusetts Care Awards honor nurses and healthcare workers in Massachusetts who go above and beyond for their patients everyday. Through their deep awareness and empathy for others, they exemplify the mission of Labouré College. From hundreds of nominations, the following winners were selected:

  • Tarma Johnson, FNP-BC, Mattapan Community Health Center
  • Richard Berrio, EMT, Boston EMS
  • Catherine Munro, RN, St. Elizabeth’s Medical Center
  • Stephanie Montgomery, RN, Lifeworks
  • Sara Hunter, RN, BSN, Massachusetts General Hospital

Each winner comes from a patient-centered and caring hospital or organization. As Boston EMS Chief James Hooley said, “We’re always proud to see our Boston EMS EMTs recognized for their exemplary care and service. Richard Berrio provides excellent and compassionate care to people in Boston, and he is a valuable member of our team and community.”

Lisa Donovan is thrilled to be hosting the event saying, “To be able to recognize a healthcare provider that went above and beyond is truly an honor and to acknowledge their achievements in front of their families and peers is a wonderful opportunity.”

The evening will include a comedy performance by Lenny Clarke, great food and wine, and the presentation of the awards to each winner. The celebration is open to the general public and ticket information can be found at http://www.laboure.edu/massachusetts-care-award. Additionally, sponsorship opportunities are available. All proceeds from the event will go to the Labouré College Pay It Forward Scholarship Campaign, which assists high achieving nursing and healthcare students with significant financial need.
